NEWPORT, R.I. - For the seventh time in nine seasons the Salve Regina University men's soccer team has been announced as recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the previous (2017-18) academic year.

In order to qualify for the award, teams are required to record a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Same academic requirements as always, but the organization changed its name from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) a year ago.

"I'm very happy to see our program honored with this national academic award again as it demonstrates our athletes commitment not only on the playing field but in the classroom as well," says 12-year head coach Craig O'Rourke II. "I think our players know that this award is a major tool in our recruiting process in that we can point to the degree of academic excellence that we have been able to maintain these last several years and show the value of a Salve Regina education."
