NEWPORT, R.I. - For the sixth time in eight seasons the Salve Regina University men's soccer team has been announced as recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the previous (2016-17) academic year.

In order to qualify for the award, teams are required to record a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Same academic requirements as always, but the organization has changed its name from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

"I'm very happy to see our program honored with this national award again," said Salve Regina head coach Craig O'Rourke II. "Once again, I am very pleased with our demonstrated commitment in the classroom. I think our student-athletes know that this award and our demonstrated team-wide academic commitment is a major piece of our recruiting in that we can point to this degree of academic excellence that we have been able to maintain and show the true value of a Salve Regina education."
