NEWPORT, R.I. – Senior  Ryan Banker (Ashaway, R.I.) potted his first goal of the season as the Bison open up their conference slate with at 2-1 win over Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon.
 
Freshman Chris Noga (Belchertown, Mass.) tallied the eventual game-winner at 58:18 on an assist from junior Paul Sickinger (Tyngsboro, Mass.). Nichols outshot the Seahawks 19-12 for the game – including 12-7 over the second frame.
 
Salve Regina's lone goal came from junior Jared Warren (Georgetown, Mass.) – his first goal of the season – on an assist from senior Evan Dudney (North Andover, Mass.) just 40 seconds into the second half.
 
Banker and Sickinger paced the Bison with four shots apiece while Noga and freshman Jonathan Ingram (Belchertown, Mass.) chipped in with three.
 
Sophomore Patrick Porpora (Westminster, Mass.) picked up his first win of the season after coming away with four stops while sophomore Michael Payan (Fort Lee, N.J.) falls to 0-4-0 on the year after his seven-save performance.
 
All-Time Series
The win marks the third in the last four meetings for the Bison against the Seahawks, however, Salve Regina still holds the lead in the all-time series at 18-8-2.
