They'rrre Baaack!!

NEWPORT, R.I. - Returning seniors Issa Demirgioglu (Smithfield, R.I.) and Alec Shuman (Pompton Plains, N.J.) have been announced as the team captains for the Salve Regina men's soccer team for the second straight season.

"I am very pleased to announce that both Issa and Shu will once again serve as captains for our team," commented seventh-year head coach Craig O'Rourke II. They are both very gifted players and have each been named all-conference in the past few seasons. But even more than their abilities on the soccer field is the leadership that they have displayed this past year, both on and off the field. In order for the 2014 season to be as successful as we all know it can be, these two young men will have to continue to be very strong leaders for our team."

Both Demirgioglu and Shuman are three-year members of the Salve Regina men's soccer team and helped the program to the 2012 NCAA tournament after winning the Commonwealth Coast Conference touranment and a program-record 16 wins.

Demirgioglu finished the 2013 season with an assist in a win over Roger Williams (Sep. 28) and a game-winning goal against Wentworth (Oct. 26), while Shuman helped a defense that finished with four straight shutouts, nine overall.

Demirgioglu and Shuman will look to lead the Seahawks back to the CCC championship game in the upcoming 2014 campaign.
