Seahawks claim 3rd CCRC Title in five seasons

MALDEN, Mass. - The Salve Regina University club men's rugby team defeated UMass Dartmouth 41-38 to claim the 2019 Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) Championship and berth to the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) national tournament.

The score was tied 19-19 at half, but the Seahawks were able to pull away and hang on at the end to top the Corsairs.

Man of the match went to Captain Mitchell Gage '20 for crucial line breaks leading to a try of his own and a beautiful assist to Chandler Kuehne '21 late in the game to put Salve ahead.

The Seahawks also had two scores from senior wing Tyler Juliano, a score from senior wing James Comerford, a breakaway score from #8 Ant "Cheese" Giacchi that sent the sidelines going wild, and a score from junior fly half Jack Barter.

Salve Regina (8-0) advances to the NSCRO Sweet 16 on November 23/24 at Sienna College for a chance to compete in the Final Four.
