Seahawks improve to 4-0

NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. - The Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team improved to 4-0 with a 17-11 victory over the Merchant Marine Academy Saturday afternoon.

Salve Regina scored the first two goals of the game, but the Mariners answered with the next two, both by Jackson Misner, to tie it up. The Seahawks found the back of the net two more times before the end of the first quarter, and then opened the scoring in the second. Misner then rattled off three-straight goals to tie the game up at 5-5 at 11:47. The visitors netted three of the next four tallies over the next nine minutes before the Mariners responded with two goals in the final two minutes and the game was tied at halftime, 8-8.

The Seahawks took over control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring USMMA 6-2 in the frame to lead 14-10. They then scored the first three goals of the fourth, and all the Mariners could muster up the remainder of the game was Misner's sixth and final tally of the day.

For Salve Regina, junior goalie Connor Cunningham made an impressive 22 saves for the victory. The Seahawks offense was led by Joe Grimm who scored five times while handing out three assists, and Pat Leary who netted four goals and dished out five helpers. Freshman FOGO Kieran Hughes won 12-of-24 faceoffs and led the Seahawks with seven groundballs.
