NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) selected Salve Regina University junior Mike Mongelli (Roslyn, N.Y.) as its Defensive Player of the Week.

Mongelli helped the Seahawks to a 1-1 week to open the season. He had 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers on the week. Seven of his ground balls came in a 15-10 loss to Clark in the season opener. Two of his caused turnovers also came in that game. He then had four ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 22-3 win over Salem State.

The Seahawks (1-1) host Wheaton this Wednesday, February 28, at 5 p.m. in another non-conference matchup.
