Nick LoCicero named NEILA Academic All-New England

NEWTON, Mass. – Seventy-five senior men's lacrosse players have earned selection to the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-New England teams including attackman Nick LoCicero (Lynbrook, N.Y.) of the Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team.

Members of the team are nominated by head coaches in Divisions 1, 2 and 3, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career.

Forty-two student-athletes from 22 different Division 3 institutions met the criteria, which required that nominees must have senior standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

"Congratulations to Nick for being honored as a member of the 2017 NEILA Academic All New Englan," said head coach Pat Cooney.  We wish him tremendous success as he graduates this weekend.  All of athletics will miss Nick and his selfless devotion to his fellow Seahawk student-athletes."

LoCicero graduates this May with a bachelors in Marketing as well as a bachelors in Business Administration.  He carries currently a 3.26 GPA.  Nick distinguished himself right away as a freshman helping a 2014 Salve lacrosse team win the ECAC Championship.  He has since been a three year Captain of the men's lacrosse team.  A four year SAAC member, he served as Vice-President from 2015-2016, and President 2016-2017.

LoCicero finishes his Salve Regina career with 89 goals and 181 assists. He ranks ninth all-time for goals scored in Seahawks program history and has the top career marks for assists and total points (270). He also holds the single season records for points (80; 2016) and assists (63; 2014). He led the Seahawks in scoring in 2017 team with 26 goals and 36 assists for 62 points (ranked fourth overall in CCC), earning him a second-team all-conference nod.
