Summary
The Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team used a third period scoring run to pull away from visiting New England College to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Series and Streaks
This was the 15 meeting between the two teams. The Pilgrims still own a 9-6 advantage all-time however the Seahawks have now won six of the last eight meetings, and four in a row at home over New England College.

Three Stars of the Game
1 – Salve Regina freshman Andrew Fera (Cranston, R.I.) scored six goals and added an assist. 
2 – Salve Regina junior Nick LoCicero (Lynbrook, N.Y.) handed out eight assists.
3 – New England Col. senior Skyler Saunders (Cambridge, N.Y.) scored six goals for the Pilgrims.

Key Stat of the Game
Salve Regina won 23 of 29 faceoffs allowing the Seahawks to control the pace of the game. Jake Gonzalez (Tolland, Conn.) won 22-26 while Luc Copeland (Climax, Mich.) was 1-3 in the faceoff circle.

Turning Point
After a see-saw first half the teams were tied 6-6 heading into the third quarter. Gonzalez won the faceoff and raced into the offensive end, whipping a shot on net for a score, just four second in the third. The goal sparked what would wind up being a 5-0 run for the Seahawks in the first four and a half minutes of the third.

Quick Hits

  • After being tied at halftime the Seahawks outscored the Pilgrims 9-2 to start the second half.
  • The Pilgrims closed the game on a 4-0 run but it was to late, as the deficit had become too much to overcome with the time remaining.
  • Seven different players scored for Salve Regina while the Pilgrims had four separate scorers.
  • Sharp Jones (Scituate, Mass.) recorded his second straight hat-trick, this time netting four goals.
  • Sean Largay (Norwalk, Conn.) joined Saunders as the second Pilgrim with hat-trick on the day. Scoring a single goal in all but the second quarter.
  • Matt D'Amore (Duxbury, Mass.) made nine saves in net for the Seahawks while his counterpart, William Platt (San Francisco, Calif.) made 12 stops for the Pilgrims.
  • The Seahawks were 1-2 with the man-up while the Pilgrims went 0-6 on the afternoon with the man advantage.
