FREDERICK, Md. - The Salve Regina men's lacrosse team improved to 5-0 on the year with an 18-8 win over Hood College, Tuesday afternoon.

The win improves the Seahawks to 5-0 while Hood slips to 1-3 on the season.

The goals came in bunches for the Seahawks as sophomore Sharp Jones (Scituate, Mass.) led the Seahawks with five goals, tying his career high while freshman Nick LoCicero (Lynbrook, N.Y.) added two goals and five assists. The freshman is now just six goals away from tying SRU's single-season assist record (25) with 19 on the young season.

Jones scored three of his five goals in the first two quarters as Salve Regina led 8-0 at halftime. Freshman goalie Andrew Watkins (Natick, Mass.) needed just four saves in the opening two quarters to keep the Blazers scoreless.

Jones scored his fourth goal of the game with 7:42 remaining in the third before Hood got on the board as Alex Villegas went unassisted to cut the Salve Regina lead to 14-1 with a quarter and a half to play.

Senior Curtis McKeon (West Haven, Conn.) tallied his third of the game to put the Seahawks up 15-1 before Patrick O'Brien scored for the Blazers with 1:15 remaining in the third.

Fourt straight goals from the Blazers to open the fourth quarter cut the Seahawk lead to 15-6 with 10:37 to play, but Hood could not complete the rally as junior Jeffery Brymer (Clinton, Conn.), freshman Brendan McGrath (New Milford, Conn.) and Jones all scored for the Seahawks to bring the score to its final at 18-8.

Watkins earned the win for Salve Regina making six saves in 41:03 of action while sophomore Brian Farina (Jenkintown, Pa.) finished the game in net for the Seahawks making six saves as well.
