Quartet of Seahawks garner all-conference nods

NEWPORT, R.I. – A quartet of Seahawks were honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference on the 2013 All-CCC men's lacrosse teams as the teams were announced Saturday morning. Seniors Taylor Braun (Commack, N.Y) and Michael Horn (Marstons Mills, Mass.) were joined by junior Curtis McKeon (West Haven, Conn.) and sophomore Steven Russell (Bayport, N.Y.) on the honorable mention team.

Braun earned a spot on the honorable mention midfield after his best season as a Seahawk. For the year, Braun recorded 32 points (18g, 14a) while picking up 23 ground balls. Bruan recorded a pair of hat tricks this season, both times against University of the New England.

Horn and Russell each earned a spot on the honorable mention defense for their work the in Seahawk backfield. Horn scored a pair of goals for Salve Regina while picking up 29 ground balls and causing 21 turnovers this season. Russell was second on the team in ground balls with 62 while leading the team with 39 caused turnovers. Russell tallied seven points on the year on four goals and three assists. 

McKeon was named an honorable mention face off midfielder for his impressive work at the "X" for Salve Regina this season. McKeon won 232-of-378 (.614) of his face offs while scooping up a team-leading 169 ground balls. McKeon broke his own single-season ground ball record, which previously stood at 127 on his way to becoming the all-time leader at Salve Regina with 387 so far in his three-year career. McKeon was second on the team in scoring this season with 40 points (22g, 18a).

The Seahawks wrapped up their season with an 18-12 loss to UNE in the opening round of the CCC tournament. Salve Regina finished the year with a 7-10 overall record and a 4-4 record in the conference.
