Carroll, Hollenshade take home TCCC weekly honors

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University junior Brendan Carroll (Garden City, N.Y.) and freshman Chad Hollenshade (Lutherville, Md.) have been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Carroll led the Seahawks to a pair of wins last week, racking up nine points (5-4-9) in two games. He tallied six points (3-3-6) in a 21-7 win over UMass Boston on Wednesday, then notched two goals and an assist in a 10-6 win over MIT on Saturday. Through four games this season, Carroll ranks second on Salve Regina with 16 points (9-7-16).

"It's great to see Brendan being recognized this week," said Salve Regina head coach Pat Cooney. "He has been working hard for three years and it's awesome to see him honored as the Offensive Player of the Week."

Hollenshade recorded six points (5-1-6) last week. He scored three goals and dished out an assist against the Beacons and netted two more goals against the Engineers. Hollenshade is second in goals (10) and third in points (13) on the Seahawks.

"Chad has impressed us from day one with his skill and knowledge of the game," said Cooney. "We look forward to seeing him progress with each game. He compliments our attack very well."

The Seahawks (2-2) return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Salem State for a 1 p.m. contest. They return home on Saturday to host Curry at 2:30 p.m. in their conference opener.
