PAXTON, Mass. - Paced by junior Brendan Carroll's (Garden City, N.Y.) three goals and three assists, Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team defeated Anna Maria College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action 16-5 at AMCAT Field on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Seahawks to 5-2 (2-0 TCCC), while the loss drops the AMCATS to 4-5 (1-3 TCCC) on the year.

In addition to Carroll's six points, junior Brendan Rooney (West Newton, Mass.) and senior Evan Gates (Ridge, N.J.) also played well for the visitors. Rooney tallied four goals while Gates added two goals and three assists. Freshman Curtis McKeon (West Haven, Conn.) also had a good game, contributing with a team-high eight ground balls and an assist.

The AMCATS were led by sophomore Rodrigo Henriques (Saugus, Mass.), who accounted for two of the AMCATS' five goals, while also adding a game-high 10 groundballs. Freshman Andrew Biscardi (Wantagh, N.Y.) and junior Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, R.I.) also contributed, as Biscardi added a pair of assists while Peterson netted a goal and scooped up four groundballs.

The first quarter of action was tightly played by both teams, as Salve Regina held a slight 3-2 edge on a pair of tallies from Rooney.

The Seahawks put some distance between them and Anna Maria in the second and third frames, outscoring the AMCATS by a 12-1 margin, en route to the 16-5 victory.

Senior Brett Pimental (East Falmouth, Mass.) picked up the victory in net for the visitors, stopping seven shots. Andrew Ellis (Fitchburg, Mass.) did his best to keep Anna Maria in the contest, adding ten saves in a losing effort.

Both teams return to conference play next week, as Salve Regina hosts Western New England College on Wednesday at 4:30 pm while Anna Maria travels to Roger Williams on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
