Walker, Connors Honored by TCCC

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's lacrosse student-athletes Chris Walker (Marshfield, Mass.) and Chris Connors (Garden City, N.Y.) have been honored by The Commonwealth Coast Conference. Walker was named Rookie of the Week for the second-consecutive week while Connors earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

 

Walker tallied 16 points (9-7-16) to lead the Seahawks to a 2-1 record last week. He began the week with two goals and an assist in a 12-9 loss to Babson on Tuesday, then set up four goals in a 7-3 win over Salem State on Thursday. The sophomore closed the week with nine points (5-4-9) in an 18-7 win over TCCC foe Wentworth on Saturday. He leads the conference in goals (20), assists (15), points (35), and shots (70). This is the second-consecutive week Walker has been named TCCC Player of the Week.

 

Connors (above), meanwhile, picked up a pair of wins while posting a .654 save percentage last week for the Seahawks (4-3, 1-1 TCCC). He recorded 12 saves against the Beavers on Tuesday, then held the Vikings to three goals while stopping 13 shots on Thursday. On Saturday, the freshman stopped six of the 10 shots he faced before being relieved shortly into the fourth quarter against the Leopards. On the season, Connors is 3-3 with a 7.02 goals against average (GAA) and a .633 save percentage.

 

The Seahawks return to action this afternoon when they host Trinity (Conn.) College at Gaudet Field at 3:30 p.m.
