PAWTUCKET, R.I.- A strong third period showed why Salve Regina is the top men's ice hockey team in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. After Johnson & Wales tied the game, the Seahawks scored five unanswered goals in the 6-1 victory on Saturday.

Salve Regina got the scoring started with the first goal in the second period. Jonathan Felteau got a pass to Evan Schultz who came across the goal and scored on a backhand at the 15:43 mark.

Johnson & Wales momentarily evened the game in the third period. Center Connor Bates (Laconia, NH) put back the rebound of Fran Mackin's (Philadelphia, Pa.) shot just 3:17 into the period. It was the fourth goal of the season for Bates.
Sixty-six seconds later, the Seahawks got the lead back for good. Pat Thompson took a pass from Nick Cyr and scored from the point on a slap shot. The Seahawks poured it on with four more goals in the final period, including a short-handed score.
Salve Regina had a decided 36-24 advantage in shots. Neither team was effective on the power play with JWU going 0-of-3 and SRU going 0-for-2.
