DANBURY, Conn. – The Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team has been selected to finish second in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast pre-season coaches' poll. The 2013-14 regular season and conference tournament champion, Nichols College, is tabbed to defend its crown, according to the poll released Thursday. The Bison collected six of the eight first place votes and 62 total points. Salve Regina University received the other two first place votes and finished ten points behind Nichols in the second slot.

Salve Regina will look to build off a program record 11 wins and a 9-5 conference record from a year ago. Head coach Andy Boschetto returns for his fifth season at the helm of the Seahawks.

The Seahawks will also have a great deal of firepower returning from last season. Salve Regina will be returning all of its top five scorers from a season ago including Peter Gintoli (Monroe, Conn.; 10G, 16A), Marc Biggs (Piano, Texas; 8G, 14A), Michael Naso (Londonberry, N.H.; 9G, 10A), John Scorcia (Hudson, Fla.; 11G, 7A), and Jonathan Felteau (Peabody, Mass.; 8G, 9A).

Salve Regina opens its regular season at home on Saturday November 1, 2014 against Neumann University at 4:35 p.m.
