SALVE REGINA VS. CURRY
  • Salve Regina and Curry have faced off 27 times with Curry holding a 22-4-1 all time series lead. 
  • Earlier this season, the Seahawks completed their first ever season-sweep of the Colonels with an exciting 3-2 win overtime in Milton, Mass. 
  • Salve Regina won the first meeting between the two teams, 6-3, back in November to snap a 17-game winless streak against CC. 
  • In their overtime win, freshman Jonathan Felteau scored less than a minute into the third period to tie the game 2-2. Sophomore goalie David Chiokadze made nine saves in the third to keep the game knotted. 
  • Junior John Scorcia netted the game-winner 3:02 into the overtime period to give Salve Regina the 3-2 win.

  • Saturday's contest against Curry marks the first time in program history that the Salve Regina men's ice hockey team will host an ECAC Northeast playoff game.
  • Last season, the Seahawks made their deepest run in the tournament, advancing to the championship game for the first time in school history. 
  • As the number three seed in the this year's tournament, the Seahawks will host No. 6 Curry.
  • The Seahwks pulled out a pair of upsets last year as they defeated No. 4 Western New England (8-4) and No. 2 Nichols (3-2) on their way to the championship game against Wentworth. 
  • Last year's playoff appearace was Salve Regina's first one since the 2009-10 season when the Seahawks went into the tournament as a the No. 8 seed.
  • Salve Regina is 4-11 all time in the ECAC Northeast Tournament.
  • The win over Western New England last year was Salve Regina's first playoff win since the 2001-02 season when SRU upset No. 2 UMass. - Dartmouth 4-3 in the opening round.
  • Salve Regina is 0-1 against Curry in the playoffs. The only time SRU and CC have faced each other in the tournament was the 2003-04 quarterfinals when Salve Regina fell to Curry, 10-0.
ECAC NORTHEST TOURNAMENT - HOW THE SEAHAWKS GOT HERE
  • Salve Regina earned the No. 3 seed in this year's tournament after finishing the year 9-5 in the conference, tying Wentworth. By virtue of the tie-breaker, the Leopards earned the No. 2 seed. 
  • The nine conference wins for Salve Regina is the most in program history.
  • The number three seed is the highest place the Seahawks have earned in the ECAC Northeast Tournament after coming in to last year's playoffs at the five seed. 
  • The Seahawks finished the season 11-14, including wins in four of their final five games. 
  • Sophomore Peter Gintoli is fifth in the ECAC Northeast in scoring, netting nine goals and handing out 16 assists during the course of the regular season.
  • Classmate Marc Biggs also ranks among the league leaders in scoring, as his 22 points (8 g, 14 a) are good enough for No. 8 overall. 
  • Sophomore David Chiokadze earned the start in goal in the Seahawks' last five games and owns a 2.77 goals against average and .911 save percentage in 520:34 minutes this season.
ECAC NORTHEST TOURNAMENT - HOW THE COLONELS GOT HERE
  • Curry earned the No. 6 seed and final spot in the ECAC Northeast tournament with a thrilling 4-3 win over Johnson & Wales last Tuesday to wrap up the regular season. 
  • Curry enters the Tournament after wrapping up its regular season with a pair of wins over Becker College and Johnson & Wales University to improve to 10-13-2 overall and 6-8 within the confines of the ECAC Northeast.
  • Sophomore Brandon Gilmore has been the leader of the Colonels' offense this season, racking up 19 points on nine goals and 10 assists, which ties him for the 11th best point total in the conference.
  • The Colonels boast the second-best scoring defense in the ECAC Northeast, thanks in large part to the play of junior goaltender Derek Mohney. In 964:20 minutes of action, Mohney has the second-lowest goals against average in the Conference (2.12) and the second-highest save percentage (.932).

  • Juniors Scott McMenimenJohn Scorcia, and senior Alex Barr will handle the duties as captains this season. McMenimen and Scorcia are in their second year with a "C" on their jerseys while this is the first season for Barr. 
  • Joining McMenimen, Scorcia and Barr leading the team this season is senior David Watkins as an alternate captain.

  • ... started a season with two wins? In 2005-06, Salve Regina opened with victories over Johnson & Wales and Framingham State.
  • ... started a season unbeaten through first three games? In 2007-08, Salve Regina opened with a win and a tie over this year's first two opponents (Franklin Pierce and Stonehill) before beating Framingham State in the third game of the season.
  • ... posted at least 10 wins in a season? In 2012-13 when the Seahawks went 10-14-3 and made the ECAC Northeast championship game for the first time in program history.

  • Salve Regina returns its top five scorers from a year ago in junior captain John Scorcia (30 points • 11g, 19a), sophomore Cameron Gaudet (25 points • 14g, 11a), junior Michael Naso (25 points • 10g, 15a), and sophomores Marc Biggs (24 points • 14g, 10a) and Peter Gintoli (24 points • 12g, 12a). 
  • Last season was the first time since 2003-04 that the Seahawk line featured at least five players with 20 or more points on the season.
  • Gintoli leads the Seahawks with 25 points on the season (9g, 16a) while Scorcia leads the team with 11 goals on the year. 
  • Freshman Jonathan Felteau leads the team with five power play goals. 
  • Scorcia leads the team with two shorthanded goals.
  • Gintoli and Biggs (8-14-22) are currently ranked fifth and eighth in the league in points.

ECAC NORTHEAST PRESEASON POLL
  • Salve Regina ranks second in the 2013-14 Eastern College Athletic Association (ECAC) Northeast preseason coaches' poll (54 points).
  • The Seahawks finished last year with a 5-7-2 mark in the conference to earn a No. 5 seed.
  • After defeating No. 4 Western New England in the opening round of the conference tournament, the Seahawks went on to upset No. 2 Nichols before falling to No. 1 Wentworth in the conference title game.

  • Salve Regina head coach Andy Boschetto enters his fourth season at the helm of the Seahawks.
