PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Southern New Hampshire scored three goals in the final period to defeat the Salve Regina men's ice hockey team, 4-3, at the Portsmouth Abbey Saturday evening.

Southern New Hampshire's (11-5-1) senior Trevor Nelson (Exeter, N.H.) collected the puck in front of the net from sophomore Joe Collins (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior Steven Barry (Ashburn, Va.) and shot it past Salve Regina goalie, junior Frankie McCormick (Peabody, Mass.) at the 11 minute mark to give the Penmen a 4-3 lead and the game.

With just over a minute to play, Salve Regina pulled its goalie in hopes of finding the equalizer with the extra-man advantage, but the Penmen senior goalie Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) made six saves in the final minute to keep the lead intact for Southern New Hampshire. Sophomore Anthony Laperriere (Winchendon, Mass.) and Berry went back-to-back with a pair of goals to open the third period to tie the game.

Sophomore Liam Centrella (Andover, Mass.) got the scoring started early in the first with his first goal of the season. Centrella positioned himself in front of the net for a pass from senior William Gomolinkski (Western Springs, Ill.) and slid the puck under Holske's pads to give Salve Regina a 1-0 lead.

Six minutes into the second period, senior Chad Hollenshade (Lutherville, Md.) sent the puck to junior Micbael Naso (Londonberry, N.H.) in front of the net. Naso found a wide open upper right corner of the net to net his seventh goal of the season. Senior Nick Riccio (Wilmington, Mass.) connected with Laperriere for his first goal of the season to cut the Salve Regina lead to 2-1 with six minutes to play in the second.

Just 12 seconds into their fourth power play of the game, sophomore Marc Biggs (Dallas, Texas) took a pass from sophomore Peter Gintoli (Monroe, Conn.) to push the Seahawks lead to 3-1 at the end of the second period.

The Penmen scored three unanswered goals in the third to defeat the Seahawks.

McCormick made 36 saves in the net for the Seahawks, including 15 in the second period. Holske made 25 stops for the Penmen.
