PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Sophomore forward Peter Gintoli (Monroe, Conn.) tied the game just over a minute into the third period, but Hobart pulled away with three unanswered goals to hand the Salve Regina men's ice hockey team its first home loss of the season, 5-2, Saturday evening.

Shortly after the Statesmen power play ended, Gintoli collected in the puck in front of the net and shot it under the Hobart goalie's leg to tie the game 2-2 early in the third period. Just 20 seconds later, the Statesmen found themselves on their second power play of the period and took advantage as junior Bronson Kovacs (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) netted his first goal of the game 2:35 into the period to give Hobart back the lead, 3-2.

Kovacs added his second goal of the game, again on the power play, off an assist from freshman Carl Belizario (Clifton Park, N.Y.) at the 12:54 mark to essentially put the game away for Hobart. Salve Regina pulled its goalie with 3:05 to play after calling a time out. The Seahawks were able to stave off a Hobart attack, keeping the puck in the Seahawks offensive zone while they had an extra attacker until sophomore Mac Olson (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) got ahold of the puck over the blue line and sent it into the empty net with just three seconds left in the game to give Hobart its 5-2 victory.

Hobart took an early 2-0 lead in the first period after sophomore Ben Gamache (Longlac, Ont.) collected an assist from Belizario on the Statesmen's first power play and shot it high past the Seahawk goalie at the 12-minute mark to give Hobart a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Bo Webster (Aurora, Ont.) gave Hobart a 2-0 lead with 3:33 to play in the first off assists from Belizario and junior Ryan Michael (Camillus, N.Y.).

Early in the second period, freshman Trace Redmond (Dallas, Texas) got the Seahawks on the board with his fourth goal of the season. Senior Chad Hollenshade (Lutherville, Md.) took possession of the puck from Hobart and sent it into Salve Regina's offensive zone for junior Michael Naso (Londonberry, N.H.) who sent it to Redmond in front of the net. The Seahawks were able to kill off two more power plays in the second to keep the Statesmen off the board in the second period.

Sophomore goalie Lino Chimienti (Montreal, Que.) stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced for his sixth win of the year for Hobart while junior goalie Jake Williams (Montreal, Que.) made 33 saves while suffering the loss for Salve Regina.
