SALVE REGINA VS. SUFFOLK
  • Salve Regina and Suffolk meet for the 20th time in men's ice hockey.
  • The Seahawks have a 9-8-2 edge over the Rams in the all-time series.
  • Salve Regina and Suffolk skated to a 1-1 tie in the last meeting on February 2, 2013, in Boston, Mass. Marc Biggs scored a second-period goal for the Seahawks.
  • In an earlier meeting last season, on November 13, 2012, Salve Regina rallied from a 3-0 first-period deficit and outscored Suffolk, 7-1, the rest of the way. William Gomolinski got the scoring started late in the first for the Seahawks while Biggs and Michael Naso both added a pair of second- and third-period goals. Cameron Gaudet and John Scorcia also scored goals in the 7-4 victory.
  • The home-away split in the series is fairly even ... Salve Regina has a 5-4-1 record at home against Suffolk, and 4-4-1 away.

ECAC NORTHEAST PRESEASON POLL
  • Salve Regina ranks second in the 2013-14 Eastern College Athletic Association (ECAC) Northeast preseason coaches' poll (54 points).
  • The Seahawks finished last year with a 5-7-2 mark in the conference to earn a No. 5 seed.
  • After defeating No. 4 Western New England in the opening round of the conference tournament, the Seahawks went on to upset No. 2 Nichols before falling to No. 1 Wentworth in the conference title game.
WHAT'S UP NEXT 
  • The Seahawks break up their homestand with a trip to Lowell, Mass., to take on ECAC Northeast defending champion, Wentworth Institute of Technology, on November 12. It will be the first meeting between the Leopards and Seahawks since last season's championship game at Northeastern's Matthews Arena; a 3-1 victory for Wentworth on March 3, 2013.
  • Salve Regina concludes its home schedule for the 2013 calendar year with Becker (November 16) and Curry (November 19).
  • The November 19 game against the Colonels will be played at St. George's Prep School in Middletown, and the Seahawks will be helping raise awareness about epilepsy.

  • Cameron Gaudet broke a 3-3 tie with just over four minutes to play in the third period to lift the Salve Regina men's ice hockey team to a 5-3 victory over Stonehill.
  • Goalie David Chiokadze made a pair of saves in final three minutes to keep the Skyhawks from tying the game.
  • Shaun Altshuller sealed the victory for the Seahawks with an empty net goal with 26 seconds left in the game.

  • ... started a season with two wins? In 2005-06, Salve Regina opened with victories over Johnson & Wales and Framingham State.

  • Freshman Parker Bowen was named the ECAC Northeast Rookie of the Week after his game-tying goal in Salve Regina's 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce. 
  • Joining Bowen on the weekly honor roll was sophomore Marc Biggs. Biggs had a goal and assist to help the Seahawks to a season-opening victory.
SCORING LEADERS
  • Salve Regina returns its top five scorers from a year ago in junior captain John Scorcia (30 points • 11g, 19a), sophomore Cameron Gaudet (25 points • 14g, 11a), junior Michael Naso (25 points • 10g, 15a), and sophomores Marc Biggs (24 points • 14g, 10a) and Peter Gintoli (24 points • 12g, 12a). 
  • Last season was the first time since 2003-04 that the Seahawk line featured at least five players with 20 or more points on the season.
  • Seniors Charlie McGinniss and Jon Stauffer return as the leading active scorers for the Rams (56 and 42 career points, respectively). The pair combined for three assists in their season-opening 3-1 victory against Assumption.
COACHES' CORNER
  • Salve Regina head coach Andy Boschetto enters his fourth season at the helm of the Seahawks.
  • He led the team to the ECAC Northeast playoffs for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
  • The 10 regular season wins last year are the most for the team since the 2007-08 season.
  • Boschetto was honored as Co-Coach of the Year by the ECAC Northeast last season.
  • Once a Ram ... Boschetto has guided Salve Regina to three wins (3-2-1) against his alma mater.
RECORD BOOK CHECK
  • Junior John Scorcia ranks fifth all-time with 41 assists entering his junior season.
  • Scorcia has cracked the top ten all-time in scoring with 64 points (21g, 43a) in his career so far, tied with Brian Hannafin.
