Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Rodney Morton (Malden, Mass.) scored a game-high 27 points in his final regular-season home game, but Gordon College went away for an 80-67 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Four Scots scored in double figures led by starters Jake Hart (Allendale, N.J.) and Eric Demers (Acushnet, Mass.) with 16 points apiece.

Series and Streaks
Gordon leads the all-time series, 33-19, and has won the last seven consecutive meetings, and 10 of the last 12. The 53rd all-time meeting will take place on Tuesday night in Wenham, Mass., in the first round of the conference playoffs as the Scots have already secured the No. 2 seed and the Seahawks are locked in as the No. 7 seed.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina senior Rodney Morton (Malden, Mass.) scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-23 from the floor, one 3-pointer, and six of seven from the free-throw line. He finished with six steals before leaving the game in the closing minutes to a standing ovation from the Seahawk crowd.
  2. Gordon junior Garrisson Duvivier (Brockton, Mass.) posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. He only made one field goal (1-for-7) but was 11-for-16 from the free-throw line.
  3. Gordon senior Jake Hart (Allendale, N.J.) scored 16 points on a perfect eight for eight from the field. He also finished with seven rebounds.

Shooting from 3-point range: Gordon made seven of 19 (36.8 percent) while Salve Regina made three of 20 (15.0 percent).

Turning Point
The first half featured four ties and seven lead changes. Andrew Bronstein (Needham, Mass.) gave Salve Regina its last lead (20-19) on a 3-pointer with 7:00 remaining in the first before Gordon went on a 25-10 run. Jake Hart had a pair of fastbreak layups sandwiched around the same for his teammate Jake Haar (Huntington Beach, Calif.). Eric Demers hit two of four 3-pointers during the run.

  • Salve Regina shot a season-low 15 percent from behind the arc, and matched its season low with just three 3-pointers.
