Seahawks land 80 on Spring All-CCC Academic Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University placed 80 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference Spring Academic All-CCC Team, second-most in the conference, including junior Kerri Beland (No. Attleboro, Mass.) who represented the Seahawks on two sports (women's basketball and women's lacrosse).

The first-ever McAuley Cup was given in honor of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy - who founded Salve Regina, to the 2017-18 Salve Regina men's ice hockey team.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University director of athletics Jody Mooradian bestowed dozens of awards to student-athletes and staff on Friday evening, including the department's female and male athletes of the year - senior Amber Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) of field hockey, and junior Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) of men's ice hockey.

Scots score quarterfinal victory over Seahawks

WENHAM, Mass. - Rodney Morton led the Seahawks with 28 points in his final collegiate game. He finishes his career as the school's fourth all-time leading scorer (1,371 points). His 521 points mark the fifth-best single-season total in men's basketball at Salve Regina.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Rodney Morton (Malden, Mass.) scored a game-high 27 points in his final regular-season home game, but Gordon College went away for an 80-67 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Kelly connects for game-winner in final minute

BEVERLY, Mass. – Salve Regina freshman guard Kevin Kelly (Valhalla, N.Y.) dribbled to the top of the key for a pull-up jumper with 14.4 seconds left, and scored the game-winning basket as the Seahawks defeated the Gulls of Endicott College, 70-68, on Tuesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Nor'easters break away in second half, 111-97

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England broke away from Salve Regina University after halftime with a 26-10 run, on the way to a 111-97 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball win on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 10) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Defending conference champion and first place Nichols College men's basketball defeated Salve Regina University, 93-64, to sweep the season series in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Junior Marcos Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) led all players with 20 points, 13 coming in the second half.

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men’s basketball team pulled away late against Salve Regina University, defeating the Seahawks 88-74 and earning their 14th victory.
