Salve Regina slips at Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball picked up an 85-63 victory over Salve Regina Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.

The Lions elevate to 19-3 on the season, matching last season's win total, and 12-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Seahawks flutter to 5-17 overall and 2-13 in league action with the decision.

Alex Jarman (Portsmouth, R.I.) recorded a double-double on the night, pouring in 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Corey Doran (Fairfield, Calif.) and Eric Lynch (Alpharetta, Ga.) each finished with 13 points in the game. Christian Lynch (Alpharetta, Ga.) chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Jaylen Owens (Johns Creek, Ga.) dished out a season-high nine assists while adding eight points and six rebounds. Jeremy Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) posted eight points and six boards and Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) tallied nine points.

The hosts raced out to a 7-2 lead just 1:37 into the contest after Owens drilled a three-pointer.

Salve Regina knotted the score at 14-14 with 15:02 on the clock on a trey by Eric MacKinnon.

Eastern Nazarene responded with a string of nine consecutive points to claim a 23-14 advantage with 11;41 left to play in the half. Christian Lynch capped off the 9-0 run with a pair of makes from the charity stripe.

The Seahawks cut the deficit to seven just before halftime as MacKinnon tossed in a layup with 20 seconds to go, 42-35.

Jarman led the Lions with 10 points and six points at the midway point of the contest. Doran and Eric Lynch each tallied seven points in the first frame.

Eastern Nazarene shot 48.4% from the field in the opening stanza while draining three treys on eight attempts. Salve Regina owned a shooting-percentage of 45.2% to go three buckets from long distance.

The guests started the second half on a 6-0 run to narrow the margin to 42-41 as Barrett Hanlon sank a pair of free throws just one minute into the period.

The Lions regained an 11-point lead with 10:48 on the clock as Doran banked in a layup, 58-47.

Jarman threw down a one-handed jam to increase the home team's margin to 73-55 with 4:44 remaining.

Eastern Nazarene outscored Salve Regina 12-8 in the final 3:30 to seal its 12th conference victory of the season.

The Lions finished with a field-goal percentage of 50.9% while connecting on 38.5% of its attempts from the perimeter. The Seahawks shot 35% from the floor and 22.2% from beyond the arc on the evening.

Bryce Boggs paced Salve Regina with 20 points while Hanlon chipped in with 12 points and Chris O'Keefe added 10.
