  • Facing a five-point deficit at the midway point of the second half, Salve Regina scored 11 unanswered points to take the lead for good on the way to a 66-60 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball victory over the University of New England on Saturday at the Harold Alfond Forum.
  • The Seahawks moved to 14-7 on the year, 9-5 in CCC games. UNE dropped to 1-20 overall and 1-13 in league action.
  • Following the run that left SRU up 56-50, Big Blue brought the margin to one (58-57) down the stretch, but Barrett Hanlon tallied the next five points to give the visitors some breathing room.
  • The Seahawks shot 52 percent (12 of 23) from the floor in the final frame, and knocked down 13-of-16 free throws to end with a 13-point cushion (20-7) at the charity stripe.
  • Hanlon scored 15 of his team-high 20 points after halftime, and grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds, for his first collegiate double-double. Patrick Dinneen added 12 points, and Jeff Bielefeld chipped in with nine. Bielefeld corralled eight rebounds for Salve Regina, which finished with 42-29 advantage on the glass.

  • Fueled by a career-high 29 points by Jaylen Owens, the Eastern Nazarene men's basketball team extended its winning-streak to six games with a 71-61 victory over Wentworth Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
  • Owens led all scorers with 29 points in the contest while adding five assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals. The sophomore guard drilled five three-pointers in the game on nine attempts.
  • Christian Lynch chipped in with eight points and three assists off the bench. Brian Hard and Lequan Gomes each netted seven points in the win. Eric Lynch paced Eastern Nazarene on the glass with seven boards while Alex Jarman recorded six points and six rebounds.
  • The Lions surged out to a 10-2 lead 4:48 after the opening tip, capped off by a trey by Justin Wagner.
  • The Lions clung to a 26-25 lead at the halftime break.
  • Owens poured in a team-best nine points in the opening stanza while Hard tallied four points.
  • Eastern Nazarene shot 35.7% from the field in the first half and 30% from long distance. Wentworth connected on 34.6% of its shot attempts in the opening period, while being limited to just 1-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
  • The Lions opened the second half on a 12-2 run en route to establishing an 11-point advantage, 40-29.
