NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior forward Joshua Hohlfelder (Noank, Conn.) was one of six named to the Capital One Academic All District 2 First Team, which was released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA).

Hohlfelder advances to the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team for the second consecutive year.

A business studies major, Hohlfelder has posted a team-best 3.88 grade point average. In 2012 and 2013, Hohlfelder earned a spot on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference Team. The Seahawks reached the championship final in each of his first two seasons.

On the court, Hohlfelder has started 18 of 21 games for Salve Regina (14-7; 9-5 CCC) this season and is the team's fourth-leading scorer (7.6 ppg). Salve Regina ranks second in the conference in rebound margin per game (+5.0) while Hohlfelder contributes his 3.5 caroms per game.

"I am very proud of Joshua Hohlfelder's many accomplishments thus far at Salve Regina," said his head coach Sean Foster. "Josh is exactly what we want all of our student athletes to be - a great person, a scholar, and a tireless worker on the basketball court. Josh's academic honors are well deserved and we are fortunate to have him back for another year to help lead our program on and off the court."

The awards are nominated and voted on by members of CoSIDA. Candidates must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher, have reached their sophomore year of school, and be contributing starters or reserves on the varsity team.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
