NEWPORT, R.I. (November 6, 2019) - Salve Regina University field hockey earned the No. 36 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships and travel to Biddeford, Maine, to face the No. 2 seed University of New England in a semifinal.

Salve Regina University field hockey wins its final regular season game, 2-1, over Roger Williams University and clinches the No. 3 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST
- Salve Regina last defeated the Nor'easters in field hockey on September 26, 2015, when Abigail Tepper scored a second-half goal in a 1-0 final.
- Five Seahawks earned All-CCC recognition - Ashley Cody, Hannah Filiault, Vanessa Frost, Eliza Timms, and Kristen Wales.
- Cody (24g, 13a, 61p) and Timms (22g, 11a, 55p) are ranked first and second in the league in goals, assists, and points.
- Timms tops all players in the CCC with seven game-winning goals.
- Freshman Casey Febus is one of only three CCC goaltenders with over 100 saves on the season (105).
- Seahawks are 1-2 against Nor'easters in CCC postseason, with the victory coming on a five-goal performance by Caroline Galligan on October 30, 2006, on the Lawrence Avenue field. Galligan had arrived after halftime of the 1:30 p.m. start due to her nursing course schedule.
- Salve Regina field hockey began in 1992 and the 1994 squad won the very first invitational sponsored by the CCC.
- The Seahawks have reached the semifinals each of the past two seasons (2018, 2019).
NOR'EASTER NEWS
- Six University of New England players have spots on All-CCC teams - Kendra MacDonald, Kate Lindmark, Julia Steeves, Reanna Boulay, Liz Sargent, and Amanda Lapar.
- Boulay was voted as the league's Defensive Player of the Year; Lindsay Bruns got the coaches' nod as the Rookie of the Year for the CCC.
- Boulay (13g, 8a, 34p) and Jillian Lachapelle (11g, 3a, 25p) rank sixth and eighth in goal scoring in the league.
- Sargent ranks fourth in the league, behind Febus, with 88 saves.
- Sargent has the fourth-best save percentage (.733) and second-best goals against average (1.68).
INSIDE THE SERIES
University of New England and Salve Regina University will meet for the 30th time in field hockey. The Nor'easters have won 10 consecutive meetings with the Seahawks, including 4-0 last month at Gaudet Field, and now hold a 23-6 mark in the all-time series. The teams are meeting for the fourth time in the CCC postseason.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the second year in a row, Endicott went undefeated in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play to secure the top seed in the 2019 CCC Field Hockey Championship Tournament.
The Gulls have earned at least a share of the CCC Regular-Season Championship three years running. This season they went 12-0 in CCC play (16-4 overall) to claim the top spot. They hold a 12-game win streak heading into tournament play. The Regular-Season Champions were great in conference games this year, allowing more than one goal on only one occasion.
The University of New England will be the No. 2 seed in this year's bracket after going 10-2 in CCC play (11-9 overall). The Nor'easters only two conference losses came to the undefeated Gulls. They will be trying to keep a streak of six straight CCC Championship appearances going this fall.
The No. 3 seed will be Salve Regina after the Seahawks completed a 7-5 CCC (12-6 overall) year.
Those three teams will be advanced directly into the semifinals of the five-team tournament, where they will await the winner of the one quarterfinal matchup between No. 4 seed Roger Williams (5-7 CCC, 11-9 overall) and No. 5 seed Western New England (3-9 CCC, 7-11 overall).
The Golden Bears earned the final spot in this year's tournament based on the league's tiebreaking procedure. WNE was tied with Gordon, which also went 3-9 in conference play. The two teams split their two head-to-head matchups, offering no relief in the first tiebreaking step. When the two teams' results against other conference opponents in rank order was considered, neither team had beaten either of the two top seeds. However, WNE earned a split against No. 3 seed Salve Regina, while Gordon lost both of its matchups. That win earned the Golden Bears a spot in the tournament and eliminated the Fighting Scots.
Roger Williams will host WNE in the quarterfinal on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the CCC Semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 7 to face off against the top-seeded Gulls. UNE will host Salve Regina in the other semifinal. Game times for the semifinals will be announced after the first round.
The two semifinal winners will advance to compete in the 2019 CCC Field Hockey Championship match on Saturday, Nov. 9. The winner of the championship match will be named the 2019 CCC Field Hockey Tournament Champion and earn the conference's automatic qualifier into the 2019 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship.
