CCC Rookie of the Week: Casey Febus

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 7, 2019) -- The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Casey Febus (Souderton, Pa.) as its rookie of the week for field hockey (Sept. 30 - Oct. 6).

Rookie of the Week - Febus picked up two more wins this week to improve to 7-3 on the season. Her victories came against conference foes Gordon and Roger Williams. Against the Fighting Scots, she allowed just one goal while making six saves. She backed that up with eight saves in a 4-3 victory over the Hawks. For the week, she had a 2.00 goals-against average and a .778 save percentage. The rookie currently ranks fourth in the conference in saves.

"Casey has made a very smooth transition to the college game and came up big for us this past week," said 13th-year head coach Jennifer Foster. "She is a poised goalie which anchors our defense and gives the entire team confidence."

The Seahawks (7-3, 3-2 CCC) resume action at Gaudet Field when they host Nichols College on Tuesday evening (6 p.m.). Salve Regina looks for its seventh straight win at home in 2019.
