Ashley Cody earns Synapse Sports All-American selection

NEWPORT, R.I. - Synapse Sports selects Salve Regina University's Ashley Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) as a 2018 All-American in field hockey.

Cody enjoyed a career year as a junior, setting program records for the Seahawks in goals (36), points (83), and a program-tying five-goal effort during victory at Johnson & Wales University (Oct. 18). Cody equalled previous single-game goal mark of her sister, Amber Cody (Oct. 7, 2017 at Gordon), and Caroline Galligan (Oct. 30, 2006 vs. U. of New England), while surpassing both with 11 points in the win against the Wildcats. The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Year also had five game-winning goals.

"Recognition on the national level is an honor for both Ashley and our program," says her head coach Jennifer Foster. "This final honor of the 2018 season is another award Ashley can take pride in as she continues to prepare for her senior season."

Salve Regina finished 10-10 overall and 5-7 in league play to qualify for the postseason as the No. 4 seed. A first-round win propelled the Seahawks into the semifinals.
