NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team travels to top-seeded Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., on Thursday night (7 p.m.) for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) semifinal.

LAST TIME OUT
Senior goalkeeper Ally Daly made six saves to record her first career shutout, 2-0, over visiting Roger Williams University in quarterfinal action of the 2018 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Field Hockey Championships at Gaudet Field. The fourth-seeded Seahawks (10-9) advance to face top-seeded Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., on Thursday at 7 p.m.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • Thursday's contest will pit two of the nation's most prolific goal scorers against each other as Salve Regina's Ashley Cody leads the nation in goals per game (1.94), while Endicott's Kristen McCarthy is tied for second in goals per game (1.42).
  • Cody was voted as the league's Offensive Player of the Year in 2018, one year after sister Amber earned the same honor.
  • Ashley Cody has set school records for points in a game (11 - at Johnson & Wales, Oct. 18), season (83), and goals in a season (36).
  • She was joined on the All-CCC squads by teammates Hannah Filiault and Eliza Timms.
  • Timms is tied for fifth in goal scoring with 17 in her first season.
  • Senior goaltender Ally Daly ranks fourth in CCC in saves (139).

GULLS GOODIES

  • The Gulls went undefeated in regular season CCC play for the first time since 2008.
  • Endicott earned the first seed in the tournament for the first time since the 2012 season.
  • The Gulls and the Seahawks met twice previously this season and Endicott came away with 8-4 and 10-3 victories.
  • Nationally, Endicott ranks second in goals per game (4.84) and 12th in points per game (12.21).

INSIDE THE SERIES
Salve Regina and Endicott are meeting for the 40th time in field hockey; this is the seventh postseason meeting between the two programs. The Gulls own a 31-8 record in the all-time series and have won seven of the last eight meetings. Endicott has won all seven previous meetings in the postseason including last year in Beverly, 5-1.
