DUDLEY, Mass. - Junior Olivia St. Jean scored the game-winning goal 5:18 into overtime as Salve Regina University field hockey defeated Nichols College, 5-4,  in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Vendetti Field. Sophomore Lizz McKinnon picked up her first collegiate hat trick for the Bison Saturday morning

Senior Erin Jillson and junior Erin Kelley were credited with assists for the Bison (5-6, 2-5 CCC) while sophomore Lauryn White made a defensive save. Junior goalie Brooke Misbach stopped 10 shots for NC.

Junior Ashley Cody and freshman Eliza Timms each scored twice as the Seahawks (4-8, 2-5 CCC) outshot the Bison 25-19. Junior Olivia St. Jean, meanwhile, scored the OT winner 5:18 into overtime.

McKinnon and Cody each scored twice in a first half that closed with SRU ahead 3-2. Sophomore Anna Heroth netted her first goal of the season at 52:11 to tie the game at three, and McKinnon's third of the afternoon less than seven minutes later knotted the game at four and forced OT.

Senior Aly Daly made seven saves to earn her fifth win of the season for the Seahawks.

  • The Seahawks held a 23-2 edge in penalty corners – including a 12-0 margin in the second half and overtime.
  • Nichols rallied tie the game on three different occasions: down 1-0 (tied at one), down 3-2 (tied at three), and down 4-3 (tied at four).
  • McKinnon's hat trick was the first by a Bison since Amanda Broughton against Western New England on October 22, 2013.
