NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team hosts Worcester State University in a non-conference match as both teams will be looking for their first win of the season.

LAST TIME OUT
Salve Regina University field hockey suffered a 6-2 defeat at the hands of WPI to beging the 2018 season. The Seahawks trailed 6-0 before Ashley Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) potted two late goals to prevent the shutout.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST
- Senior Ally Daly and Emma Gaudio along with juniors Ashley Cody and Olivia St. Jean will handle the captains duties in 2018.
- Ally Daly made four saves in her first collegiate start.
- The Seahawks were outshot 24-17 by the Engineers but held an 11-5 edge in penalty corners.
- The Seahawks are undefeated at home lifetime versus Worcester State.
WHAT'S UP WITH WORCESTER
- The Lancers suffered a 10-1 loss to open their season over the weekend, falling to 7th-ranked Babson.
- Babson led 4-0 before Michaila Parent got the Lancers on the board, however the Beavers would score the next six goals and cruise to victory.
- The Lancers were outshot 27-5 and 22-3 in shots on goal.
- Freshman goalkeeper Jess Hopkins made 12 saves in her collegiate debut for the Lancers.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Lancers have won two in a row over the Seahawks. Last season Olivia Antonelli's goal in the 65th minute broke a 1-1 tie and the Lancers withstood a barrage of Seahawks chances to hang on for the victory.

Worcester State travels to Fitchburg on Friday, September 7 (7 p.m.); Salve Regina hosts Thomas (Maine) on Sunday, September 9 (1 p.m.).
