Seahawks improve to 5-2 in CCC play with 7-4 win against Scots

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference action and allowed 16 shots on goal in its 7-4 loss.

The Seahawks (7-4, 5-2 CCC) got on the board early as they scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the game. The Fighting Scots (3-7, 1-6 CCC) got on the board in the 16th minute as Emily Allcroft brought he ball into the circle from the left side and chipped it over the goalie. Kieran Thompson cut the deficit to one with a goal in the 26th minute off a pass from Emma Ellsworth. Salve Regina added two more goals in the 29th minute and 32nd minute to make it a 4-2 game. Gordon received an untimed penalty corner at the end of the half, which set up Amanda Poulin's first goal of the year off a pass by Kieran Thompson to cut the deficit to two goals at halftime.

The Fighting Scots started the second half aggressively on offense as they attempted four shots in the first two minutes with three of them being on goal and one shot was blocked. The Seahawks stretched the lead to three goals with a goal by Amber Cody in the 49th minute. Natalie Adamez scored less than a minute later off a pass from Sabrina Jandreau that made it a 6-4 game. Salve Regina dominated possession for the next five minutes as they put five shots on goal in that time span and scored their seventh goal in the 55th minute. Gordon attempted eight shots the rest of the game with five being on goal. Two of those shots were saved by Seahawks defenders and three of them were put on goal in the last two minutes of the game.

Salve Regina plays a non-league contest at Johnson & Wales University on Monday in Providence, R.I. (4 p.m.).
