NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University field hockey team is picked to finish fourth according to a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) pre-season coaches' poll.

A school-record 13-game win streak propelled Salve Regina to a second-place regular-season finish and a program-best 17 victories. Key returnees include three captains – seniors Erin Gendreau (Sandwich, Mass.), Sarah Thompson (Clinton, Conn.), and junior Jessie Severino (Branford, Conn.). Gendreau and Severino earned All-CCC accolades last fall while the Seahawks graduated four other all-conference performers including the bulk of last season's offense.

Returners Lindsey Venuto (Foxboro, Mass.), Hope Vaughn (Granby, Conn.), and Jillian Mosca (Whitesboro, N.Y.) have an opportunity to step into more productive roles. Newcomers Mary O'ConnorMary Zanine, and Hannah Filiault have impressed head coach Jennifer Foster to earn plenty of minutes early on defense and midfield.
