Seahawks wrap up 2014 season with banquet

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team recently held its season-ending banquet at the Young Building which houses the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy on the school's campus.

The team celebrated the 2014 season with a potluck dinner with players, coaches and their families. 

The Seahawks honored their six seniors - Brianna Cain (Saunderstown, R.I.), Erin Demers (Concord, N.H.), Erin Massey (Mendon, Mass.), Murphy McCann (Westerly, R.I.), Alexandria Rizzo (Hopedale, Mass.), and Jessica Williams (Franklin, Mass.) -  as well as their three Commonwealth Coast Conference all-conference honorees, McCann, Abigail Tepper (Foxboro, Mass.), and Julia Grover (Cotuit, Mass.). 

Team Awards

  • Offensive Player of the Year - Abigail Tepper
  • Defensive Player of the Year - Alexandria Rizzo
  • Rookie of the Year - Sarah Thompson
  • Full of Heart Award - Mary Cain (a player who brings a tremendous amount of energy and heart to our team day in and day out)
  • Seahawk Teammate Award - Lindsey Mazzola (a team leader who has a positive attitude, is hardworking and supportive of all of her teammates)

The Seahawks also named their 2015 team captains - Mazzola and Tepper.

"It is always enjoyable to bring the team and their families together before the winter break," said Salve Regina head coach Jennifer Foster, "and this year especially to celebrate a successful season which ended in our program's first ever ECAC bid. The team is looking forward to getting back on the field together this spring."
