NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University football team travels to face Curry College for a Commonwealth Coast Football Conference matchup Saturday afternoon after enjoying their bye week.

LAST TIME OUT: Freshman running back Joey Mauriello (Colts Neck, N.J.) rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns and caught a touchdown to lead the Seahawks past Becker College, 31-8. After the Hawks turned the all over on downs on their own 41 yard line it only took the Seahawks four plays to find the endzone. The Seahawks handed the ball off on four straight plays, capped by a 43-yard touchdown scamper by Mauriello to give the Seahawks a 24-8 lead. The Seahawks turned the Hawks over seven times, and consecutively on their last four possessions of the game. The Seahawks defense grabbed three total interceptions, and turned the Hawks over on downs four times.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • OUT OF THIS LEAGUE: With a 2-2 mark in non-league games in 2018, the Seahawks have gone 10-4 in their last 14 such games.
  • CLASS MAKE-UP: Salve Regina class breakdown is - seniors (13), juniors (21), sophomores (27), and freshmen (34).
  • LEAGUE LEADERS: Brandon O'Neill (6.0), John Salute (4.5) lead all CCC players in sacks; Matt Sylvia (7) leads the league in interceptions.

  • LAST TIME OUT FOR CURRY: Despite taking a 7-0 lead over Western New England, the Colonels were outscored 21-0 in the second quarter en route to a 56-21 defeat at the hands of the Golden Bears. The Colonels were led by Juvelier, who went 28-for-45 for 238 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. Levy racked up 46 yards on six carries and a score to lead Curry in the ground game. Levy hauled in seven catches for 104 yards and a score. Elice pulled in three receptions for 41 yards and one touchdown. On the other side of the ball, Marcus Greenidge (Flushing, N.Y.) paced the Colonels with 10 tackles. Jeremy Eliades (Berlin, Conn.) and Luc Zikianda (Lynn, Mass.) followed behind with seven tackles each while Gregory Silvia (Coventry, R.I.) registered six tackles.
  • WE MEET AGAIN: The Colonels knocked off the Seahawks 37-20 in the final regular season game last season. The win helped send the Colonels to the postseason in the New England Bowl, while the Seahawks season came to a close.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Salve Regina leads the all-time series 16-9 however the Colonels won last season's meeting, snapping a seven-game win streak in the series for the Seahawks.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Salve Regina travels to Biddeford, Maine for its first-ever meeting with the University of New England on October 27 at 4 p.m. The Colonels host Becker at 1 p.m.
