LAST TIME OUT
The Salve Regina University football team overcame a 21-7 deficit to defeat Worcester State University 27-21 in non-conference action at Coughlin Field.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • Sophomore quarterback Jake Kelleher threw for 175 yards, three touchdowns, and picked up another 75 yards on the ground, earning himself Commonwelath Coast Football Offensive Player of the Week honors.
  • Sophomore defensive back Matt Sylvia picked off two passes and broke up another to earn Commonwealth Coast Football Defensive Player of the Week honors.
  • The Seahawks defense only allowed 81 yards of offense in the second-half versus Worcester State, and just 18 in the fourth quarter.
  • A trio of Sehawks defenders will serve as captains in 2018. Tyler D'Errico, Brandon O'Neill, and John Salute will lead the 2018 squad.

ABOUT THE RED HAWKS 

  • This is the first game of the season for the Red Hawks.
  • The team went 5-5 last season and 5-4 in NJAC play.
  • Rick Giancola, Division III's winningest active coach, enters his 36th season at the helm of the program.
  • The Red Hawks return three all-conference players in senior linebacker Mauro Altamura, junior offensive lineman Stephen Gaffney and senior kicker/punter Hunter Daly, the 2017 NJAC Special Teams Player of the Year.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Seahawks won last season's meeting in Newport, R.I., by a 26-20 final. The Seahawks have never won in Montclair versus the Red Hawks.
