CCC Football Defensive Rookie of the Week: Matt Messner

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Football has selected Salve Regina University freshman Matt Messner (Midland Park, N.J.) as its defensive rookie of the week (Oct. 9-15).

Defensive Rookie of the Week - Messner was big in the turnover game for Salve Regina on Saturday (Oct. 14) afternoon. He forced a fumble and also have three fumble recoveries in the Seahawks' 45-10 CCC Football victory over Nichols. Messner also recorded five tackles, including one for a loss.

Salve Regina (4-1, 1-0 CCC) hosts Endicott College at Toppa Field in Newport on Saturday 12 p.m.).
