SALVE REGINA VS. CASTLETON
  • This is the second all-time meeting between Salve Regina and Castleton.
  • The Seahawks won the first ever meeting, defeating the Spartans 32-14 in Middletown, R.I. last season.
  • After the Spartans capitalized on a Brandan Basil interception to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter the Seahawks rallied off 26 straight points to take control of the game.
  • Sam Pascale rushed for 211 yards on 25 carries while Basil finished 19-25 with four touchdowns and the lone interception.
  • The Seahawks defense held Castleton to 263 total yards 

LAST TIME OUT FOR SALVE REGINA

  • Salve Regina hosted Dean College in an exhibition game at Gaudet Field in Middletown, the home opener for the Seahawks, and the Seahawks won, 24-14.
  • Despite losing the turnover battle, 5-0 (three fumbles lost, two passes intercepted), Salve Regina had eight more first downs (19-11) and sacked the opposing quarterback, David Curry , seven times. 
  • The Seahawks outgained the Bulldogs on the ground (218 yards rushing to six) and in the air (99 yards passing to 64).
  • The Seahawk defensive unit has posted back-to-back games of six or more sacks. Against Dean, John Salute (Mahwah, N.J.), Kevin Johnston (Raynham, Mass.), Ethan Gambale (Mays Landing, N.J.), and Tyler D'Errico (Cheshire, Conn.) accounted for the Curry takedowns in the backfield.
  • None of the statistics, nor the result, count on Salve Regina's record since Dean is exploring NCAA Division III membership, transitioning from junior college competition.
