New England Football Conference 2016 Pre-Season Coaches' Poll
NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University football team is picked to finish second according to a New England Football Conference (NEFC) pre-season coaches poll behind Western New England, the defending conference champions.
The Seahawks were ranked as highly as first and as low as fourth in the coaches' votes.
Salve Regina was picked to finish third in 2015 and made it to the NEFC title game against Western New England. The Seahawks would go on to qualify for postseason play for the fourth straight season and win the ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl Championship by defeating Husson 42-39 in comeback fashion.
"The NEFC has had great success in New England, and with this being the last year of the conference it is an honor to be ranked as high as we are going into the season," said head coach Kevin Gilmartin. "It should be an exciting year, and as we all know, pre-season polls and accolades are nice, but you have to go out on the field and compete to make your dreams into a reality. "
