Seahawks picked to finish third in NEFC poll
NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University football team is picked to finish third according to a New England Football Conference (NEFC) pre-season coaches poll behind Western New England and first ranked MIT, the defending conference champions.
The Seahawks were ranked as highly as second and as low as sixth in the coaches' votes.
Salve Regina tied for second with Western New England in 2014 with a 5-2 conference record. The Seahawks were 7-4 overall in 2014, finishing the season on a five game winning streak, including a 48-21 victory in the ECAC Northeast Bowl.
"You look at the poll and MIT and Western New England are ahead of us and they deserve to be because we couldn't beat them last year," said head coach Kevin Gilmartin. "But there is great parity in this league, every year is a new year, and we're ready to go out there and take it one game at a time."
