NEFC Defensive Player of the Week: Rory McEntee
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University defensive lineman Rory McEntee (Wakefield, R.I.) has won the defensive player of the week award for the New England Football Conference (NEFC).
McEntee led the Seahawks' defense with a dozen tackles, eight of which were solo in Salve Regina's 21-19 win over Maine Maritime. He also had 1 1/2 sacks and an additional tackle for loss. McEntee had a half-sack on the Mariners final possession in the last minute of play as the Mariners had reached the Salve Regina 18 yard line.
Through eight games McEntee has recorded 44 tackles, 27 solo, 2.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss. McEntee is part of a defensive line that has dominated as Salve Regina boasts the best rush defense in the NEFC.
