NEWPORT, R.I.  The 2014 Salve Regina football schedule has been released and will feature five games at the Seahawks' home field at Gaudet.

For the second-straight season, the Seahawks will open the year against Bridgewater St. This year, Salve Regina will travel to Bridgewater, Mass. on Friday, September 5 for a 7 p.m. kick off of the season.  The Bears hold a 9-3 all time series lead, however the Seahawks have won the last two meetings between the two teams, including a 36-7 win at Gaudet last year.

Salve Regina will play at home for the first time in the 2014 season when Montclair St. comes to Middletown, R.I. on Sept. 13 for a 12 p.m. start. The Red Hawks hold a slight 2-1 advantage in the series after defeating Salve Regina last season, 17-16.

The Seahawks will then hit the road for back-to-back contests, first for the first ever meeting with William Paterson on Sept. 20 before traveling to MIT for their New England Football Conference opener. The Seahawks lead the all-time series 15-5, including a 29-21 win on Homecoming last year.

Salve Regina will return home to host Nichols on Homecoming Weekend on October 4. The Bison and Seahawks have faced each other 22 times before and Salve Regina leads that series 12-9. Last season, the Seahawks put up 20 points in the second quarter en route to a 32-0 victory.

Once again, the Seahawks get on the road with a trip to Springfield, Mass. to take on Western New England on October 11. Salve Regina leads that series 14-6 after a 47-26 win last year.

The Seahawks will round out the month of October as Curry comes to Gaudet for a 12 p.m. kick off on Oct. 18. Salve Regina holds a 13-8 all time series lead after coming out victorious in the previous four meetings between the two teams.

Following the bye week, Salve Regina welcomes Maine Maritime to Gaudet Field on November 1. The Seahawks have defeated the Mariners all seven times the two teams have faced off, including a 42-8 win last season in Castine, Maine.

Salve Regina will travel for the final time of the regular season with a trip to New London, Conn. to face the United States Coast Guard Academy on November 8. The Seahawks hold a 3-0 advantage in the all time series, which includes a 25-14, win on Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day last year.

The Seahawks wrap the regular season as Endicott comes to Gaudet Field on November 15. Other than Bridgewater and Montclair St., Endicott is the only team to hold an advantage in the all time series between the two teams. The Gulls lead the series 8-3 after a win in the NEFC title game last year.

The 2014 season will be the second under head coach Kevin Gilmartin who led the Seahawks to a 7-4 record and ECAC Bowl Game last year.
