Bio

After 14 years as equestrian director at The Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth, R.I., Julie Antis assumed the roles of equestrian trainer at the club, coaching of the Portsmouth Abbey High School equestrian club, teaching beginner through advanced lessons in dressage and hunter/jumper at Carnegie and training member horses. 

Antis has more than 20 years of experience as a certified riding instructor and brings a vast array of equine knowledge to Salve Regina.

She started riding at the age of six-years-old in Buzzards Bay, Mass., at Grazing Fields Farm where she showed competitively in Junior Hunters, Jumpers, and Medal/Maclay. She then earned her degree at The University of Tacoma Washington in equine management. After graduating, Antis spent three years as a working student under Sue Stienhoff in Ocala, Fla., training through third level dressage. She is trained as a veterinary assistant and can administer IV and IM shots as well as manage any small medical emergencies.
