CCC Rookie of the Week: Patrick Maybach

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Patrick Maybach (No. Kingstown, R.I.) as its rookie of the week for baseball (April 17-23).

Rookie of the Week - Maybach made two appearances on the mound this week, earning a win and a save. He was able to close out Salve Regina's 4-1 non-conference win against Amherst with two innings of scoreless work, before making the start against Eastern Nazarene in a CCC bout. He threw six scoreless innings against the Lions and struck out seven.

"Pat got put in a tough spot having to start game one on senior day," remarked fourth-year head coach Eric Cirella. "That's a lot of pressure for a freshman to be put in but you wouldn't know it by seeing his performance. He has been so consistent, giving us quality start after quality start. He easily could have went CG (complete game) but I wanted to rest him up for the stretch run of our season. He's a fun guy to watch pitch because nothing phases him and he can throw four pitches anytime he wants and commands them well for the most part."

The Seahawk sweep of Wentworth on Sunday, coupled with the Colonels of Curry College losing a pair at Nichols, gave Salve Regina (27-5, 12-0 CCC) the CCC regular season title. The Seahawks next play at Rhode Island College on Wednesday April 26 at 3:30 p.m.
