WENHAM, Mass. - Defending Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Salve Regina showed many reasons why they are the favorites in the CCC in a sweep of Gordon at J. Tec White Field on Sunday. The Seahawks used a chaotic seventh inning to down the Scots 5-2 in the opener before breaking things open in a big way on the finale, 12-2.

The Seahawks improved to 8-0 in the CCC and 17-4 overall on the year, while pushing their winning streak to four games. Gordon drops a pair of conference games for the first time this year and is now 5-12 and 2-4 in the league.

Game One
The red-hot Seahawks took a 2-0 lead after the first three innings against Gordon's workhorse Derek Hudson (Hudson, N.H.). Riley Fusaro (Nantucket, Mass.) singled in a run in the second inning before an error in the Gordon infield added another run for the visitors in the next frame.Gordon got one back with a clutch two-out single for Addison Tarr (Oxnard, Calif.) to score Alec Willey (San Diego, Calif.).

Dean Demers (Sandy Hook, Conn.) tied the game at two in the bottom of the sixth with a double to the gap to score Tarr from second with two outs. The Fighting Scots put runners on second and third in the sixth, but could not add a go-ahead run.

Salve put together three hits in the top half of the seventh as a part of a three-run stanza to take control of the game. With runners on second and third with two outs, a passed ball got to the back stop to give the Seahawks the lead at 3-2. Zack Barlok (Cheshire, Conn.) helped compound the tough moment with a two-RBI single just two batters later to make it a 5-2 final.

Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I) pitched a complete game with eight K's and only four hits allowed. Hudson almost finished off another complete game, going six and two-thirds with five earned runs against him on 10 hits. He struck out two.

Game Two
It was all Salve Regina from the start, as the Seahawks tagged Gordon for three runs in the top of the first. A couple of walks and a pair of RBI singles for Christian Vargas (Melbourne, Fla.) and Stephen Cirella (Jamestown, R.I.) gave them the early lead.

Salve pushed the lead to four runs with a two-out RBI double by Colton Eremian (Boca Raton, Fla.) in the third before piling on for an eight-run fourth. Eleven batters came to bat in the inning for the Seahawks, who scored their first runs on a trio of miscues by the Fighting Scots. Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.), Cirella and Barlok all added to the fire with RBI singles to help put the Scots down 12-0 at the midway point of the contest.

Gordon's second unit contributed two runs in the bottom of the sixth, including the first career RBI for Jeremy Jacobs (Burlington, N.J.) and Brad Welch (Stokesdale, N.C.).Will Ginsberg (Sharon, Mass.) earned his first win of the season in four innings of shutout ball with four punchouts.Vargas and Cirella led the visitors with two hits apiece in the game.
