NEWPORT, R.I. - Sophomore infielder Riley Fusaro (Nantucket, Mass.) drove in the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, with his third hit of the game, to give host and nationally-ranked Salve Regina University baseball (American Baseball Coaches Association - No. 26) a 1-0 walkoff victory in the opener of two versus Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Roger Williams University.

Salve Regina (13-3, 4-0 CCC) swept the doubleheader from Roger Williams (5-13, 0-4 CCC) behind outstanding starting pitching from junior Jimmy Fitzgerald (Canton, Mass.) and senior Cory Poplawski (Syracuse, N.Y.). Fitzgerald got relief help from fellow lefty Patrick Maybach (No. Kingstown, R.I.) who earned the victory in the walkoff win in Game One. Junior Jon Lynch (Cumberland, R.I.) finished the job in Poplawski's victory (2-2) in the 8-3 win of Game Two.
