NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University baseball pitchers struck out 23 batters in 14 innings as the Seahawks swept a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader from defending conference champion Curry College on Sunday at Reynolds Field. Starting pitcher Tommy Seaver (Rocky Hill, Conn.) won the opener, 6-4, with 11 Ks, and fellow starter Frank Lemieux (Marshfield, Mass.) spun five shutout innings with eight Ks in a 10-6 Seahawk victory.

Salve Regina improves to 38-18-1 all-time against Curry in baseball. Seahawks sweep a doubleheader for the first time in 2016. 

Three Seahawk Stars of the Day
1 – Salve Regina starters Tommy Seaver (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Frank Lemieux (Marshfield, Mass.) - combined for 19 strikeouts; Lemieux struck out the first four batters he faced.
2 – Salve Regina outfielder Brody Santilli (Lincoln, R.I.) - laced a pair of doubles, drove in a run and scored a run in the opener while making a highlight-style catch in left field to rob John Arens (Milton, Mass.) of an extra-base hit.
3 – Salve Regina designated hitter Tristan Dacey (Wyckoff, N.J.) - blasted a three-run homer to right field (his second of the week) as part of a six-run 3rd inning in the nightcap.

Key Stat of the Day
Salve Regina pitchers struck out 23 batters in 14 innings. Curry had only three hits in Game Two, with two of them coming in a six-run 6th inning; the Colonels benefitted from five of their seven bases on balls in the frame.

Turning Points
Senior outfielder Ryan Kelly (Waldwick, N.J.) led off the bottom of the 3rd of a scoreless Game Two with his third home run of the season to jump start the Seahawk offense.

• Curry outfielder John Arens (Milton, Mass.) belted just the second home run of the season for the Colonels; freshman Matt Fogarty (Millis, Mass.) has the other round-tripper for Curry.
• Salve Regina's Sean Healy (Wakefield, R.I.) and Jimmy Fitzgeral (Canton, Mass.) picked up saves in the sweep.
• Alex Perry (No. Attleboro, Mass.) had a Noah's Ark day (everything in two) - two hits, two runs batted in, two runs scored.
• Kelly swiped second and third base after a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 6th, and came home on Perry's RBI single for an insurance run in the 6-4 victory.
• After allowing a leadoff homer to Arens in the top of the 5th, Seaver struck out four Colonels in the frame including freshman Tyler Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.) who reached on a wild pitch after kicking the ball into foul territory which went undetected by the umpires.
