CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Salve Regina University baseball earned the No. 2 seed in the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Baseball Championship. The tournament is an eight-team field with a quarterfinal round followed by a semifinal and championship round.

"It's exciting to keep the season going after a poor showing in our conference tournament," says head coach Eric Cirella. "It also gives the seniors a chance to go out on top and could allow us an opportunity to win a championship and gain some momentum heading into next fall."

After finishing the regular-season with a 24-16 record, Roger Williams was selected as the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

In the first-round contests on Wednesday, May 7, Roger Williams will host Becker College (20-17) at 3 p.m., while the second seed Salve Regina University (25-14) will face No. 7 Fitchburg State University (22-17).  No. 3 Suffolk University (21-13) plays Lasell College (18-13) at a time to be determined at Lasell and Springfield College (20-15) will take on Framingham State University at 3:30 p.m. in the No. 4/No. 5 match-up at Springfield.

The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, May 10, hosted by the highest remaining seed. The winner of Roger Williams/Becker will face the winner of Springfield/Framingham State in one semifinal and the winner of Salve Regina/Fitchburg State and the winner of Suffolk/Lasell in the other semifinal.
