NEWPORT, R.I. - With its most recent victory (11-2 over Wheaton College), Salve Regina University (22-11) now owns a 3-3 record against schools ranked in the NCAA regional top 10 for New England. One team in the recently released top 10 the Seahawks cannot play is ... No. 9 Salve Regina.

"This is why we play the best teams in the region (or try to) in the middle of the week," remarked head coach Eric Cirella, in his first full season at the helm. "And our conference has gotten strong enough where it can really help your ranking to win games. Again, it's nice to be recognized as a top 10 regional team, but that can all go away quickly if we let it get to our head. We have a big test tomorrow with Brandeis and obviously a huge doubleheader against Roger Williams on Saturday. But we are in a good position to do some damage."

The Seahawks split their two games against defending Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) champion Endicott on April 1, while besting St. Joseph's 3-2 on March 23 (three runs on one basehit), and a lopsided victory today over the Lyons.
