NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior catcher Dominic Di Sano (Central Falls, R.I.) has been chosen to the 2014 D3baseball.com preseason All-America team.

Di Sano stands out among all catchers in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). He combines his defensive duties and handling of the pitching staff with a productive offensive game. He ranked eighth in the league in RBI (34) while batting .354 with 13 doubles, one triple, and three home runs. His .538 slugging percentage led the Seahawks in 2013.

Di Sano paced a potent offense that ranked 17th in scoring (out of 370 schools) in NCAA Division III baseball. Di Sano ranked 50th in sacrifice flies.

"It's a great honor for Dom to be recognized as one of the elite catchers in the country heading into his senior season," said Salve Regina head coach Eric Cirella. "He certainly established himself as one of the premier catchers in the northeast last spring, especially defensively. He controls the pitching staff and makes the whole team better. I think Dom will be eager to get back to work so he can prove his worth and justify his pick as a preseason All American. I'm very proud of him; he has come a long way."

Salve Regina opens its season in Fort Myers, Fla., on March 8, 2014, with a doubleheader against Mitchell College. The Seahawks have their final five games with live video and live statistics. Di Sano and his teammates return to New England to play at Salem State (March 18) before hosting their first game at Reynolds Field (March 19 against WPI).
